It’s Just
Three little words that can change your life: It Is Just.
It’s Just…
just – implying small, trivial, not worth considering.
If you ever hear those words as part of a request, RUN.
“It’s just…†is never just. It’s cruel deception. Remember when you were a kid? All those shots? The nurse or health care worker would hold up the needle, smile reassuringly and say, “It’s just a pinch…â€
Did the lollipop make up for the lie? Or maybe you just learned why they are also known as “suckers.”
At that tender age, “it’s just” is just beginning. Your parents sign you up for summer camp. Or cello lessons. Or whatever form of torture that gets you out of their hair for a few hours a week AND forces you to learn something. And IT’S JUST a few hours a week. Not so bad, right?
So what if you have to go to a psychologist now? It’s just an hour a few times a week.
We even do it to ourselves. It’s just coffee. No, it’s a Toffee Nut Whipped Cream Sugar Explosion and the smallest size has 350 calories. Skipping the chocolate sprinkles doesn’t make it just a cup of coffee.
It’s just is just one thing. Add a little sex and things get inneresting.
She’s Just or He’s Just requires a little adjustment.
He’s just a little…temperamental.
She’s just a tad…possessive.
The guy takes a tire iron to a windshield. He’s just letting off a little steam.
The woman is watching her ex-boyfriend through binoculars from the apartment she recently rented across the street. She just wants to see what he’s up to.
So help the starving children in foreign countries! It’s just pennies a day!
Lower your cholesterol! It takes just 30 minutes of cardio at least 3 times a week!
It’s just:
A Kiss.
A few dollars.
One drink.
A few minutes.
A joke.
