Some People You Just Love

If loving were easy, we’d all be doing it.
It’s not an equitable relationship but you love them anyway.
You love them because they are so difficult to love.
You love them because you know they love you but aren’t so great with the whole loving business.
You love them because they teach you that love isn’t always easy.
You love them because no one else does.
You love them and sometimes you want to just walk away because life would be so much easier.
You love them because they force you to grow and change and accept.
If loving were easy, we’d all be doing it.

Update 22 April 2007: I had forgotten I had written this until a new reader left a comment! I’d like to add it to my poetry submission to Stretsh’s How poetic are bloggers shout-out/meme. I’m more poetic than I thought!
“You love them because they are so difficult to love.

So true… Great poem.
Christian: thanks for the compliment. I really appreciate it.
I really love this poem, it reminds me of someone I love but sometimes would rather not. Thank you =] Your writing is excellent, and the thoughts that you express are profound.
Mai: Thank you! It’s comments like yours that keep me motivated to write.
