While You Lay Sleeping

I shift in bed looking for a comfortable position. I turn towards you and see the outline of your face – dark against the lesser dark.

I know that crease in your ear, the one that smoothes out in the shower.
I know your stale slumbrous breath.
I know where you are hard and where you are soft.

I shift again and know: You are my comfort.
