Let’s Get Poetic
I love what Stretsh is doing at A few good notes – encouraging people to write poetry. He asked How poetic are bloggers and then started a poetry meme.
I know, you’re thinking MEME – run!
POETRY – run faster!
I though, hey, good excuse for us bloggers to flail our poetry on our unsuspecting readers because hey, we were tagged, we had to do it.
Okay, I wasn’t tagged but I wanted to flail my poetry on my unsuspecting readers. You’ve already read my Bad Rapping – how bad can my poetry be?
Don’t answer that.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll appreciate my title.
Intoxicating
I am intoxicating.
Intoxicating, eroticating,
Distilled.
I pour myself into you
Essence into sensualence
I am liquid
pure
one hundred proof
I burn.
I burn.
I burn into you.
I would love to read more poetry by Chris Macalino who contributes to Peogles. I wouldn’t mind if Christian or Chesg wrote something but I don’t want to be greedy…
Ricardo of Unloaded has been a great sport at all the people who have been tagging him for all sorts of memes. I betcha he would come up with something…different.
I think Mr. Gary Lee should take a break and Get Creative. So how’s about it Gary? Roses are red…
On the shelves beyond the dunes
Are the bottled waves of the sea.
Their tranquil-blue waters
Drowned me by degrees.
I reached out to grab hold of you
And sharply, you pushed me away.
But the tide’s flotsam and jetsam
Will carry me back someday.
Oh no……
I’m gonna come up with something . . . but it’s gonna sound like it’s from a 3rd grader! hahahah
dietrologia: Wow. No one tagged you and … wow. Beautiful and evocative. I love it.
Ricardo: Performance anxiety?
If anything, it’s an idea for a post and hehehe, maybe you can tag Maritza as payback!
Gary Lee: Glad you’re up for it!
I think we should have fun with this! Big bonus: We don’t have to worry about spellchecker!
Affair
The transitory nature
of this time we have together
Is as honey mixed with cream
A sweetly slumberous dream.
Someday I must awaken
Not now, not now!
Once more the snooze button.
I’ve never been a fan of poetry for some reason…
I hear the ladies love it though! :p
Gregg: I don’t go out of my way to read poetry and my tastes run to poetry I can understand. If it’s too esoteric, fuhgettaboutit!
For example, dietrologia’s poem – I get that.
This poem by e.e. cummings, I do not get (and it uses “flotsam and jetsam”!)
I’m sure I could figure it out (I took enough English courses) but guess what – I don’t really want to!
flotsam and jetsam
flotsam and jetsam

our spinsters and coeds)

Let me officially thank you for your poems and spreading the meme. I listed both your poems.
Stretsh: you’re welcome and thanks for listing both of my poems. I really liked your question – how poetic are bloggers?
I was a bit intimidated by poetry and then I realized…WHY? If people blog for self-expression and to share their experiences, why not write poetry for the same reason?
I accept your challenge!

[...] I was inspired to share this bad poetry with you after Ms. Q brought this up on her blog with her Let’s get poetic meme [...]
I can’t sleep tonight.
There’s nothing new to dream of.
I’m not ready for another day,
but the sun is slowly breaking through the night.
There’s a dream I used to have where I knew everything,
I’m hoping to catch it before the stars fade.
I wait to catch my moment, my time for swimming in bliss.
I grab the sheets and pull them close but my blood stirs so I stay awake.
Somewhere before this night ends I’ll find it,
that place where I know what to do and say, where I’m not afraid.
Where it all flows in a clear, cool stream for me to wade.
And I’ll let the wave take me to a better place,
where the water ends and the stars are as bright as the sun.
I’ll find her there, waiting, smiling, beautiful beyond words,
We’ll hold each other and kiss, never letting go, never thinking of the next day.
Ricardo: lovely! A great sense of restlessness and longing. I love the imagery – sheets, swimming, water, blood, day and night.
