Finally Here at O’Hare
I finally landed at O’Hare International Airport and am currently at a free PC in the Admiral’s Club, courtesy of having a first class ticket. Yippee!
I am not on my original itinerary at all. When I travel I know it’s all out of my hands and I enter the Zen Zone. I arrived at the airport and learned my flight was cancelled. They had already rebooked me. I wait at the Admiral Lounge for, oh, 3 hours and my itinerary goes through multiple changes as flights get delayed further. Luckily, a concierge recommended I change my flight to an earlier one that was already delayed – he thought my flight was going to be so delayed that I would miss my connection out of O’Hare. The problem was that I had been on a first class seat but the earlier flight was coach.
I figured I’d rather be in a coach seat and make my flight that in a mythical first class seat that gets me no where fast. The concierge said, “I would take the earlier flight if I were you and hey, a first class seat may open up!”
I said go for it. I waited in the lounge some more, chilled out, drank water, hid behind my 17″ laptop which obliterated my actual lap and garnered several looks as most people had micro laptops or laptops that were contained within the borders of their actual lap.
My name was called and I ended up with a business class seat anyway!
It’s all good!
I’m currently reading “White Noise” by Don DeLillo – incredible and thought-provoking! Just up to Chapter 15.
Urban Thought: thanks for the well wishes!
Sounds like everything is going your way even if it seems like it’s not. I like the 17 inch screen laptops. Sure they’re big but the screens are great.
So… Where are the bathroom photos?
Ricardo: all is well. Made it to Heathrow and everyone is eyeballing me as I hog a free PC.
HTMKSteve: Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten that my readers haven’t had a bathroom post in a long time and need their fix!
