Ricardo: Thank you. I really appreciate your words. This post was the ghost of an idea earlier in the year and it just wasn't ready to be born.

The past few months have been heart-opening. People think of learning as "eye-opening" but there are also lessons that are "heart-opening" and when you open your heart, you let in love and you let in pain.

It is much easier to live with the belief that you don't need anyone. The day you allow yourself to desire someone, the day you want to see your beauty reflected in another's eyes, is the day you open your heart.

I needed to open my heart to write this post. I know and love many lonely people, people who are waiting just like me.

Irisi: I hadn't heard that particular song but I'm familiar with her India Arie video song:

When I look in the mirror the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it's supposed to be
And I know our creator didn't make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes; I'm lovin' what I see

I did look up her "I am not my hair" on YouTube. She really does great songs on self-acceptance!

UT: When you realize how we are all waiting, you begin to see everyone in a whole new light. If you are suffering and you are learning from your pain, you begin to feel compassion. I've been learning quite a bit these last few months. I'm still learning. I thought there was Summer Break. Dang! Guess not.

Gregg: Thanks!

This is a fundamental human need, I agree. Beautiful post MsQ, it brought a lot of emotion to me..

Have you heard the song "I am not my hair" by India aire? The chorus goes like this: "I am not my hair/I am not this skin/ I am not your expectations.. I am not my hair/I am not this skin/ I am the soul that lives within."

We are all looking for these things. You've tied up the most basic and important human needs out there in a great post. It's not easy to capture this.
