Reluctantly Hopping On the Geek Train

Published by MsQ at 5:30 am under Blogging

Well, Gregg Hawkins tagged me a while ago inviting me to board the Geek Train.

As I’ve stated before, I am not a geek. I have geek-like tendencies but unfortunately, I am not a geek. I have many geek friends though. One of them considers me a geek. Probably because I have some familiarity with the original “Battlestar Galactica” and “Star Trek.”

I can also count in binary (with my hands) and I know VI (VIsual Editor).

But there are many types of Geeks. Wine Geeks. Game Geeks. Public Restroom Geeks. Or so I proclaim.

I was all set to board the train when I noticed that Gregg had added an ‘r’ to my name. Yep.

He made me Mrs. Q.

I have never been married.

Mrs. Q - NOT!

For some very odd reason, Gregg considers me a motherly figure. While it’s nice to be thought of as caring, how many dates do you think I’m going to get with the phrase, “motherly figure”?

I’m a Geek so…does “NULL” come to mind?

Hence my reluctance.

Well, let’s get moving on the Geek Train, shall we?

—— START COPYING HERE ——

  1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and linkback to the blog(s) that put you on the list in the paragraph. You MUST do this. No-one plans on getting slapped for duplicate content any time soon, do they?
  2. Next, copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your own blog. If you’d like a different keyword for your blog then change it, when you do your post, and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword, provided the train keeps on spreading.
  3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
  4. Add at least three new favourite blogs of yours to keep the train going, e-mail the blog owners (or comment on one of their posts) and insist that they post.

The Originals:

(The kick-ass) Nate Whitehill
(The original) 13-Year Old Blogger
(The money-making) Affiliate Marketing guide
(The crafty two at) TechRave
(The AdSense ‘dude’) Michael Cheney
(The overclocker) Shawn Knight

(The incredible) Chris Hooley
(The rhetorical) Michael Kwan
(The talented) Leo Chiang
(The root of all evil) John Chow
(The business dude) Josh Mullineaux
(The brilliant) Shoemoney

(The absurdly loud) Ed Lau
(The mastermind) Jon Waraas
(The yaketty) Stephen Fung
(The wickedly cool) Everton Blair
(The uber blogger) Ms Danielle
(The enterprising) Matt Coddington

(The career minded) Jane May
(The Marketing Mogul) Gary Lee
(The nifty) Dosh Dosh
(The ambitious) Jeff Kee
(The Down Low) Shawn Low
(The Reviewer) Thomas De Maesschalk

(The Post Whore) Derrich
(The Bitchy Mogul) Bob Buskirk
(The Anti-Social) Matt Propst
(The Hawk) Gregg Hawkins
(The Game Master) HMTKSteve

(The Mysterious) Ms. Q
(The Rebel) Cedric Ang
(Comfortable In His Own Skin) Urban Thought

My adds:

(The Sunday School Teacher) Jill – A real mom who shares my public restroom fixation.

(Knows Right From Wong) Derek Wong – Yet another person who ponders … public bathrooms.

(The Wino) Alistair Bathgate – I just came across his blog. I love wine. Need I say more?

This link train is the brainchild of David Wilkinson, hyper, money-making kid, and kick-ass blog designer Nate Whitehill.

—— END COPY HERE ——

Well, if Gregg is gonna make me a mama, I’d like to think I was a hot (and wickedly classy) one.

Pour me a heady red Zinfandel, why don’t you, sonny boy?

You Can Call Me Ms. Q

“Comfortable In His Own Skin” is a great way to describe me. I like it. I’ve never considered myself a geek either. But others may… Not sure what kind if would be. I’d have to explore it.

One letter can make a difference. Probably a simple typo.

“Motherly” may be out of bounds but WISE is not.

    Thanks for joining.

    P.S…You are a geek :)

Hey I appreciate the mention! Let’s not forget that you actually inspired starting out on the posts about how to go the Wong way while doing certain things (as opposed to the wrong way).

On another note, I must admit that those references to you being motherly on Gregg’s blog struck me as a bit strange. And I’m not even you!

UT: Glad you like my description of you! That’s the sense I got from reading your blog. I do think there are other types of geeks – people who are not just enthusiastic about a topic but know it in great depth.

I figure the “Mrs. Q” is a typo. I’ve come across it a few other times. While I’m glad to have someone link to my blog, I always things “Mrs.Q” is such a big difference than “Ms. Q”

    shaun:
hahaha! It’s flattering to be asked to join.

Derek: You’re in tech (well, in integration if I recall) so you gotta have some geek-like attributes. I’m glad you don’t see me as motherly. If you did, then I’d start to wonder.

Ms. Q!!! finally :D I actually like “the mysterious” as your description.
I promise I won’t ever make the mistake of calling you Mrs. again.

    Thanks Ms.Q & WELCOME BACK!!!!!!

I ****knew**** I was in trouble when I read that about restroom geeks! :-) :-) :-)

I am definitely all geek, no question!!!!!!! Wondering if I should put “beer loving” or “body pierced” in between “the” and “Sunday school teacher” just to prepare anyone who actually clicks though!

Either that or maybe I should actually think about posting something religious one of these days… :-0 :-0 :-0

Gregg: I figured you did a typo and I’m glad you like “mysterious”!

Jill: Yep, you done been tagged! You can change your description to anything you want…beer loving…belly-pierced…ice-cream-maker…Hot Mama…up to you! Just know that it may get passed on from blog to blog!
