Gratitude and Love, Revisited

Published by MsQ at 1:22 pm under Life, Personal Growth

The Best Part of My Home

Today is a beautiful day. Absolutely glorious.

There is something to be said about feeling the love for…everyone and being grateful.

I’ve been trying something new – when I wake up in the morning I try to make my first though:

Thank you.

Followed by a second thought:

I love you.

I get out of bed and focus on all the “things” I am grateful for – my home, my comfort, and my health.

The first thing I like to do is to open the shade in my living room so I can see my friend outside – the tree.

My friend was wrapped in shades of gray a few hours ago and barely awake.

I looked at her, drank her in, and appreciated her beauty. I was thankful.

I felt grateful for the non-things: beauty, love, spirit, life.

I looked past her to the horizon and said, “I love you.”

I then began my day and I knew it would be a good day.

Now she dances and sways in sunlight and shadow.

I’ve opened up the windows to let the day in.

The sounds of birds, the wind, rushing traffic, snatches of music, scraps of conversation, life is spilling into my home.

Life. It’s beautiful.

Thank you.

Thank you for beauty

Sounds like an awesome way to start off your day. Practicing using “The Secret” to start off your day :D

Gregg: Interesting that you mention “The Secret” – after I posted I noticed my Google adsense ad was advertising “The Secret” which really made me wonder how adsense works!

I saw your post on “The Secret” and since I read a lot of personal development/Law Of Attraction/Manifest Your Destiny type of blogs and books, I saw many references to the book so was pretty sure the actual secret was about the Law Of Attraction or LoA as most people refer to it.

I wrote the last week’s posts without having read “The Secret” and just began the book last Saturday. It was in the “new book” section of the library. I admit that waking up and saying “Thank you” was something I read about in the book. Something similar is mentioned in Wayne Dyer’s “Manifest Your Destiny” book (and probably his “Power of Intention) about being grateful and ending your day with meditation and saying thank you.

I’ve always had a basic if not profound belief in the Law of Attraction as I tend to think that things will work out for me…and they do. I’ve seen people who believe that life is a big struggle and that people are out to get them – and that’s what they experience.

Reading all these LoA books have brought my subconscious observations to my consciousness. I figure this is a sign ;-)

Lovely way to start the day… I may need to follow suit myself :)

And that is a beautiful tree.

It does sound like a great start to the day! Mostly when I teach what’s more or less a Jewish arbor day, but whenever I talk about trees all year long I always call them “our friend the tree”.

Irisi: I’m on Day 2 of beginning my day with “Thank You” and “I love you” and it’s…quite nice. It forces me to shift my thoughts to a very appreciative, grateful and loving attitude.

Yeah, I think that tree is gorgeous myself! I’ll pass your compliment onto her ;-)

Jill: Affirmations, prayer, an “attitude of gratitude” – the more I practice this the better I feel. I am usually pretty positive but now I am trying to be more conscious about it, to “Be grateful” as opposed to “being grateful for” as I mentioned.

I do love trees, too. I may love being near the ocean but another place I feel peaceful in are the woods. especially when I’ve been walking in a redwood forest. Wow. The towering redwoods, their thrusting roots, the cushiony loam beneath my feet, talk about a friendly feeling!
