Fever-ish (a Capella)

Published by MsQ at 1:31 am under Blogging, QMusements, podcasts

I’ll never be famous for my singing but for SOME ODD reason a couple of you thought I had a decent voice and I thought I’d give my fantasy at being a Torch Singer a shot.

In all seriousness, I’ve never thought much of my singing voice and the feedback has been surprising and very nice!

I’m really touched by your support and encouragement and it’s been fun to channel my Inner Diva.

I’ve always loved the song “Fever” and my favorite is the version sung by Peggy Lee.

Ms. Q…with the usual disclaimers, sings, “FEVER-ish”

Fever

[snap-snap-snap-snap]

Never know how much I love you,
Never know how much I care.
When you put your arms around me,
I get a fever that’s so hard to bear.

You give me fever,
When you kiss me,
Fever when you hold me tight.
Fever! In the morning,
Fever all through the night.

Sun lights up the daytime
And moon lights up the night..
I light up when you call my name
And you know I’m gonna treat you right

You give me fever
When you kiss me,
Fever when you hold me tight.
Fever! In the morning,
And fever all through the night

[snap-snap-snap-snap]

Everybody’s got the fever
That is something you all know
Fever isn’t such a new thing
Fever started long ago

Romeo loved Juliette
Juliette she felt the same
When he put his arms around her he said,
“Julie, Baby , you’re my flame

Thou giveth fever
When we kisseth
Fever with thy flaming youth
Fever! I’m afire,
Fever, yeah, I burn, forsooth.”

[snap-snap-snap-snap]

Cap’in Smith and Pocahontas had a very mad affair
When her daddy tried to kill him
She said,
“Daddy, oh, don’t you dare!

“He gives me fever
With his kisses
Fever when he holds me tight
Fever! I’m his missus, So
Daddy, Won’t you treat him right?”

[snap-snap-snap-snap]

Now you’ve listened to my story,
Here’s the point that I have made:
Chicks were born to give you fever,
Be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade

They give you fever
When you kiss them
Fever if you live and learn
Fever! ’till you sizzle
what a lovely way to burn
what a lovely way to burn
what a lovely way to burn

Now here’s the version done by The Inimitable…Peggy Lee!

Note: I think the best part is the snapping, don’t you?

Oh that’s just super! Unfortunately I didn’t get to hear the first song (I was at work and they frown upon unnecessary bandwidth usage). I’m definitely going to go find it now!

I like that your voice is unlike any other that I’ve heard. It’s rather dusky (is that even a valid adjective for one’s voice?) and I enjoy that you talk/sing with such an even tone.

Not that I’m a singing judge or anything, but in this American Idol age, everyone tries. :)

Very sultry! Mmmm I swayed along to the music! Love it!

Music being your voice… I know there are no instrumentals in there.

Derek: I’m glad you liked it and dusky as a vocal adjective? Well…according to a quick online lookup, dusky is about shadows and darkness so and darkness with voice makes me think of “deep” so..dusky works. I understood what you meant and that’s the point of communication.

I did understand what you meant, right?

Interesting to learn that my voice is unlike any you’ve ever heard. I never thought of voices that way!

I’m glad you liked my singing – I am just happy to learn that I can actually carry a tune or at least a couple of them! I wonder if my voice has changed over time..I couldn’t stand to hear my voice on a recording before…

Sue: Sultry – I like that adjective, especially since “Fever” is supposed to be sung with a bit of “heat”!!

Glad I was able to sing sultrily. Yep, no instruments – just snapping. Which reminds me about the time when I first learned to snap my fingers – I was a kid and thought that being able to snap your fingers was really cool.

You did understand what I was saying. In fact that was pretty spot on.

I think that I could have used sultry, but I didn’t really want to because it has so many sexual connotations. Ah communication, huh?

Sounds great Ms.Q!!!!! I kept listening wondering if I could ever post anything that BRAVE! I’m going to go with “No”, though maybe it would be different if my blog were anonymous in the least. Yes, the snapping is great!

OK!!!!!! I am going to load this up… it will take a while, but I can’t wait to hear your song. Back in a few.

That was so great! I think that song fits your voice very well :-)

There are not many people that would have the courage to do this, and if I’m right, you are constantly taking new steps in your own life that bring evolution in personal strength. Fears be gone! Bring on the new talents of MsQ! We all know that you are an excellent writer and now a fine singer… I wonder what new surprises await in the journals of Q Musings? What ever they are, I’m sure of one thing…. I will always be in the crowd cheering you on.

I loved your song, and yes, I’m going to listen again.
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face – Speedy

Admit it girl – you are hot! Keep singing…

Derek: Communication IS funny! Sue felt safe to use “Sultry” since she’s a woman but as a man, you worried. I can understand that especially since people are so cautious about sexual connotations these days.

Jill: I’m glad you liked it! I actually didn’t feel particularly brave. More like a bit ridiculous like I was taking myself too seriously. Sue posted a webcam – I can’t see doing THAT. Unless I could figure out a way to futz out my face. hahaha!

Can you sing? I know you like music but can you sing? This is coming from someone who defines herself as being able to techically sing but not carry a tune. So I guess I am asking if you think you can carry a tune? “Dreidel-dreidel-dreidel..I made you out of clay..” (is that the way that songs goes? It’s been so long since I sang it.)

I can see you being the band “tamborine girl”!

Speedy!! Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, the song fits in my limited range and it’s funny the idea of bravery. In my case I really didn’t feel all the brave – more silly. It’s been interesting to learn how many people consider it brave and that there is NO WAY they would do it.

I guess something changed in me without knowing it. I mean, I doubt I would have done this a year ago!! On the scale of fears I have been dealing with this year, it made singing (very anonymously!) trivial. Which doesn’t prevent my friends from giving me a hard time. Not that any have. One friend’s response was along the lines of my having some uh, Major Kiwis.

Thanks for your observations and belief in me! I appreciate it! Plus all the compliments (wheeee! Thank you!)

Surprises in store? I have no idea. The thing is we are all capable of surprising ourselves.

You went to listen to my singing again? Wow. I truly am flattered!

Beth: Hehehe! I’m doing that licking my index finger and touching my hip and saying, “Tsssst!” charade.

LOL! Very good Ms.Q. I’ve been meaning to listen to this for awhile but I’ve been terrible busy. AT LAST, I have heard.
