Chicken Soup Medley (What I Do For Love)

I have a cold. I’m actually in the recovery stage where I sound worse than I feel.
I did have some chicken soup. Campbell’s Chicken soup.
I’ve tried various brands throughout my life and maybe it’s because I grew up with Campbell’s, I like its chicken soup the most, at least when I have a cold.
It’s comforting.
Speedycat Hollydale requested another song from me when I felt better.
Hmmm.
Speedy’s a great guy but he sure has some odd tastes.
BUT, I figgered I’d see what I could come up with and thought of something to do with “Chicken Soup” and more along the lines of the old Campbell’s Soup “Mmm Mmm Good” jingle.
I Googled and I had no idea there was a Chicken Noodle Soup dance.
This wasn’t quite my speed…I really can’t rap and tend towards Old School.
I’m not taking any cold medications so my creative process was not drug-induced. Unfortunately, I don’ t have that excuse.
You might want to take 2 shots of uh…NyQuil before you listen to this.
Or skip it altogether and just watch the source of my inspiration, “What You Won’t Do For Love” sung by Bobby Caldwell:
If you’re still up for it, here’s my nasal rendition of “What I Do For Love.”
Drink 2 martinis and call me in the morning.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

MsQ …. this was my favorite post ever. I think I will be smiling for 2 more days!
The best part is that I love this song – and sang with you the second time I listened. Drop one octave, and you are right there in my key. AWESOME!!
Your add lib deserves an Academy Award. Very nice. Very Chickenny
The best part? Yep, the sentiments at the end. Being human, and thus imperfect, it is easy to loose sight of how we look at ourselves. A positive inner perspective can be prevalent for weeks, and then falter. Sometimes things just get tough, and all of a sudden there you are looking in the mirror not feeling quite “up to par”. Little things …. reminders, and a faith guide me back. I think I have such a fondness for your thoughts, and writing here because you project such wonderful outlook regarding life an what it entails. Your journey as a person improving “self” has also helped many others too. I always leave your blog with a sense of what is important, what is healthy, and what really matters.
I am glad you are on the getting better side of your cold. I think your voice sounded sultry as usual. You have a definate “media” type of resonance in that voice box of yours. Late night radio with Ms Q!!
As I said before, you always make me smile. That is a very powerful ability. Happy weekend to you as well my friend. I think you’re going to make it after all. (hugs)
Eric “Chickenney” Hollydale
Speedy!! I’m glad I can put a smile on your face! That makes ME smile.
You love this song?? Dang! I recall the first time I heard it – I loved it right off the get-go and got the album!
You have a very deep voice (lucky me, I got to hear it) so if you’re only one octave below me…hmmm.
Thanks for the inspirations for this post, between chicken and asking me to sing. I wonder what’s up with chickens? I dunno if you read Jill’s blog but she is dating a Man-Who-Knows-A-Song-About-A-Chicken or something like that. Maybe I gots to look for men who like chickens in my neck o’ the woods. I do like to eat chicken and mainly eat chicken compared with other forms of protein.
Thanks for encouraging me, making me feel like I do indeed make a positive difference in others’ lives.
Very Lovely….in many ways!
LOL… I cannot believe you never heard of the Chicken Noodle Soup song. Not that it was really mainstream… Living in the city you think people every where hear every song. Even the off the wall ones.
You put a smile on my face on what appears to be an interesting early Sunday morning for me.
Speedy: Thank you for making the request. Without it I wouldn’t have smiled this morning.
Olga: Thanks! It’s been fun reading your comments on Speedy’s blog. I love the fact that you’re a bra. Bras need to get out more often hehehe!
UT: After I saw so many Chicken Noodle Soup song videos I realized that it was mainstream like “The Macerena” was mainstream. I live in the city but not in its heart. I am sure it’s came somewhere around here. There is a serious lag time when it comes to me and What’s Up (Popular) in the world.
Ooooh, I put a smile on your face??? Nice. Glad to be of service
Interesting early Sunday for you?? As in inneresting??
Sorry you weren’t expecting to have any smiles in morning. I do know the feeling. That’s why I’m glad I have this tree outside my window. I try to say, “Thank you for gracing my home with your beauty” to it when I open the blinds each morning. Most times I say it and rush out the door but I know I really should pause and FEEL it.
I gotta say I feel very strongly that looking for a man who knows a SONG about a chicken in your neck of the woods. I mean, I have no idea what men who like/know songs about chickens are like as a group, but my one experience has been they’re the BEST!!!! I say all signs point toward you starting a search in your area.
I HATE that time of a cold/sickness where you sound worse than you feel! All that unnecessary sympathy “No really! It was LAST WEEK when I felt like crap!!!! I feel fine now! I just SOUND like death warmed over!”
Lol! Ms.Q sings again! I hope you get better soon. Keep having that chicken soup.
Jill: On my To Do list: find where Men Who Like To Eat Chicken and/or Know Songs about Chickens hang out. They can’t all be in Houston or Hollydale. I think the men I’ve seen know how to dance like a chicken.
OK, more like they are chicken to dance!
I am feeling much better – not fully charged but the energy levels are returning and I was able to go for run twice now.
Ricardo: Glad you count it as singing! I wince a bit when I “hit” the high notes but I’m glad to be making people smile!
Whenever I hear someone talk about Chicken Soup I think of the old Far Side cartoon where the hen is feeding her kid chicken soup. I think the caption was, “one, it’s good for you. Two, it’s no one we know.”
Glad to see you have not stopped blogging.
HMTKSteve: I used to love Far Side! That and “Bizarro” – one of my favorite Bizarros had “Flipper” the dolphin in the ocean squeaking and Lassie the collie barking and Timmy’s mom (or some female/mom figure) saying, “Stop! Stop! I can’t hear you when you’re both talking at once!”
Whacky.
It’s nice to know that you’re watching for me and glad that I’m still blogging.
I’ve been sooooo busy and I really want to spend some time on updating/upgrading my blog. Gack! I want to move to my top level domain and not this ~/blog subfolder as well. I really don’t feel like dealing/learning the htaccess stuff so am wondering if I should just do a Phoenix Rising type of thing and burn this and do a fresh start. Not quite sure. I’ve see a few other bloggers do this and with entire new domains. The thing is losing all the history and old stories…I’m not so worried about the links and my ranking these days.
I dunno Ms.Q – I’m not sure men who like to EAT chicken really narrows it down, does it? Don’t most men eat chicken?!?!?!
I used to love the Far Side too & still love Bizzaro.
Urban Thought: You are welcome – how fun was this?
MsQ: I see you!! How is the week going? Feeling like a spring …. er, better? (wink)
