Swing Low For Springy
In memory of Springy…
Ricardo asked if anyone would join him in singing “Amazing Grace” to honor the passing of Springy, his African Dwarf frog.
I choose not to mangle that song and instead offer a special version of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”
My heart is in the right place, if not my key.
Springy
African dwarf frog
A fine, amphibious friend
of Ricardo.
Let us…sing.
.
.
.
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Comin’ for to carry her home..
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Comin’ for to carry her home..
I looked over the swirling waters and what did I see,
Comin’ for to carry her home!
A band of African Dwarf Frogs, comin’ for their friend
Comin’ for to carry her home….
Hop low, genus Hymenochirus
Comin’ for to carry her home.
Ya’ll better hurry,
Springy’s swirling swiftly..
Help her on her way back home…
Hop low, sweet dwarf frogs,
Help Springy find her way back home…
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Comin’ for to carry her home.

I don’t know anything about singing, but sounds like a great key to me!!!!! Very nice tribute to Springy & I think a nice song choice for your voice.
You amaze me. How cute… I think Ricardo will appreciate this a great deal.
BTW Ms. Q…left you a note on the comments in Ricardo’s meme regarding the number of dates and flossing habits…
Jill (part 1): Glad you liked the tribute and I know enough about singing to stick to songs that I can .. sing. I’m enjoying singing these days – I have always wanted to sing but urk, what I thought I sounded like and what I actually sounded like – eek!
But my voice has changed as I’ve aged, deepened. Go figure. It was always mid-low tones but now it’s more low tones. With the new “voice” I’ve somehow also been able to sing. It’s shower-worthy type of singing but I’m liking the fact that I can even sing!
UT: I’m amazed you’re amazed! I mean, you’ve heard me sing before! I know you’re very accepting and encouraging yet I also think you have high bar you hold yourself to as well as others. So I appreciate your amazement.
I hope Ricardo likes it. His own tribute was a bit tongue-in-cheek but still, you do get attached to animals. Plus, I like frogs.
I hope he likes the photo …
Jill (part 2): I’ll check it out! I haven’t learned about the flossing habits of the man I had a 6th (!!) date with (I don’t rummage around medicine cabinets or search people’s homes) but based on clues, I am guessing he flosses.
I LOVED the tribute! It was glorious and your email reminds me that I must link to this post and give you a big mention. Thanks again Ms.Q.
BTW, that is the zen like pose she did while in meditation.
Ricardo (parts 1 and 2): I am so glad you loved the tribute! It was fun to create it and I like frogs (seeing them swim is so much fun to watch) and it was nice to try to be a part of helping the Memory of Springy live on!
In researching African Dwarf Frogs (so apropos for me what with liking South Africa and being um, on the small size) I found that photo. I did edit it a bit to match the post (Picasa + MS Paint).
