Orange (You Glad For Simple Pleasures)
Life is full of simple pleasures.

Life is full of beauty.

Look around. There is joy and beauty to be found.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Life’s simple pleasures are the best,
All the little things that make you smile and glow,
All the things you know.
Life’s simple pleasures are the best … are the best … in all the world.
Your post reminded me of that song. I don’t remember if it’s an actual song, or from a commercial. Whatever it’s from, it always makes me think of happy things.
Nice Delmer!
I have to agree with the “anything that makes you smile” scenario. Usually, those moments are free, and priceless
delmer: Not sure about which song but I do think of those credit card commercials where the last line is “…priceless”
Whatever it’s from, yeah, “happy things” is another great way to think of simple pleasures. I have so many things that give me pleasure and most of them are free or didn’t cost much. I love rocks and stones I find on the beach or on trails. My favorite vase is something I bought at a garage sale for 75 cents.
A friend gave me a set of heavy white dinner plates, lumpy and practically impossible to break – she joked the were the kind that you see at carnivals and try to pitch a softball at one. She was moving and had upgraded to better plates and I hadn’t any so I took ‘em. I love ‘em. I bought a bag of clementines (they look like tangerines) and piled them on this Japanese plate. I bought the plate because it was this funky green color with egg-yolk highlights. Made me think of a of psychedelic mountains.
The sunset through my window blinds…beauty so fleeting.
Speedy!! Your granddaughter’s laughter, you dog’s “singing” …PRICELESS!! and FREE!
Ain’t that the truth…
I’m feeling the color similarities in each photo. I believe the second one to be a sunset? If it isn’t then it gives me that impression. Either way they share a bit of orange (and not just the fruit itself).
UT: Yep, the 2nd photo IS a sunset! I wasn’t sure if I could capture the mood of it when I took the photo (only 4 megapixels) and I tried to futz with the manual settings but my eyes enjoyed the play of light and color and shadow and pattern.
You accomplished what you set out to do. How amazing that it turned out to be such a great shot, 4 megapixels and all.
That is the beauty of photography. I’m glad I’ve taken up the medium. It’s great that you find pleasure in it as well.
Well, I did by her some stuff …. (smile)
Speedy!! hahahaa! So you’re saying that her smile did..come at a price!
And I just had a glass of OJ!!! The timing of it all!!!!
I like to say that’s why I have little chance of becoming an alcoholic – I’m too easily amused by the little things. That’s why I’m only a binge drinker…KIDDING!!!! Seriously though, I do think when you can get all happy about the shadows in that second picture (which is beautiful, btw) you’re in better shape all around.
Ricardo: hahahaha! There is something to be said about timing!
Jill: I know you enjoy a drink or 2
and I do as well but I hadn’t put together being easily amused by the little things to a natural defense against alcoholism! Although…from the people I know who were/are alcoholics (the “were” being they passed away) they tended to be angry or sad.
Your blog shows your easily-amused-ness! That’s probably why I like you/your writing! I bet we’d have fun together! Although you seem much more willing to try new things than I am! Heck, most people are more willing!
Yeah, the shadows on the wall were pretty nice. I enjoyed them a couple of nights in a row.
