Final Final Offer
Last year I got this free magazine subscription.
Well, for the past, I dunno, 3 months, I’ve been getting various Special Offers to renew.
Actually, it seems longer, like maybe 6 months but it’s probably been only 3 with one Special Offer or One Time Only card or letter a week.
I received what I assume is my final magazine this month.
FINALLY.
The magazine was about home decor and seemed to target small spaces. I’ve enjoyed reading it but not enough to renew the subscription, even at less than a buck a magazine.
I just received this Last Chance Renewal Form.

Huh. Personally, I am not convinced.
Final Chance.
Last Special Offer.
One Time Only.
Time will tell if this is their Final Final Offer.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
We had similar offers for Josh’s Maxim for the longest time. When I finally resolved to renew the subscription for $1 an issue, I couldn’t find the offer card, not even one! I finally went to the website and discovered that the ’special offer’ was ten dollars more expensive than what they were offering people online!!! It’s usually just a gimmick price.
Trust me – you will get so many more – for years to come…
It’s all a scam. They will send you discounts, offers, one time specials. No one time about it. Anything to get you to read the mag or at least keep you subscribed is all they want.
Don’t fall for it Ms. Q. Don’t let them trap you. LOL
What’s amazing to me is not that they can think up so many different ways to trick people, but that people actually get tricked. You’d think people would learn at some point.
My personal favorite is the “Going Out for Business” sale, as opposed to the going out of business sale.
I did some time in the car sales arena when I was in my early 20’s. Sale sale sale every day, every week! They love baloons and the term last chance, and last of (insert any car name here)
Not really for me, although it was a good experience and I did learn a thing or two about dealing with the public in a high pressure circumstance.
I agree with others … you just might get one more chance
Sue: I hadn’t thought to check for online offers – good to know! I try not to clutter my home up. I don’t mind reading magazines but paying for them? Eh.
I remember when Maxim first came out. I had to laugh – I thought (and still think) of it as the male version of Cosmo. I used to read Cosmopolitan (teens and twenties) mainly because my mom had a subscription and was fun. When Maxim came out I wondered if men would begin worrying about their abs what with all the articles on how to get a 6-pack and ripped. Not to mention how to seduce women. A male friend of mine subscribed to Cosmo just to learn about women – he said it was inneresting to see what we focused on.
I’ve read a few men’s magazines and it’s inneresting but not so inneresting that I’d want to subscribe! I see men worrying about exfoliating and soft skin and muscle tone and while I like it that men are taking care of themselves I don’t like the fact that they are now targets for all these various products. I’m probably a bit “old school” in that I’m surprised by how fastidious men can be. I once felt stubble on a man’s upper arm and shoulders and I was thinking, waaah? and realized that the man shaved. He wasn’t a body builder or someone who I’d think might shave body hair but he just wanted to look “clean.” More and more men are shaving areas well, anyway. I’m totally digressing.
Skipper: Thanks for the warning.
UT: Don’t worry – I won’t fall for their scams! They have offered me the same “gift” I don’t know how many times. I know it’s all about subscriptions and the more subscriptions they have the more they can sell their ad space for.
Jill: Yeah, the tricking part is sad and I can see how they can trick people because I’ve seen how my mom gets confused! Marketers will put things in envelopes that look very official or from the government and it ticks me off to see my mom get confused and worried. She has me to check on stuff she isn’t sure about (I tell her if she can’t figure it out, run it by me) and she is up on some scams and I’ve warned her not to download anything without asking me.
Speedy!! Good phrase, “Going out for business!” That is more apt! Yeah, I’ve learnd to be leery of “last chance” and “Final offer” stuff.
Yeah..getting a few more offers won’t surprise me. I’ve had several last chances already!!
Nah, they’ll always take you back.
Ricardo: I’m sure you are right.
LOL…dontch just love a good scam!
