Five Uplifting Days: Day 1 - I Believe In Me!

Published by MsQ at 12:25 pm under Personal Growth

I got another Message From The Universe last night.

The conversation that has been generated from my last 2 posts has been very thought provoking. One post was about my experience with loving my inner child. The other was my thoughts on how Ego is the root cause of many of the world’s problems.

You may be thinking, “Inner Voice”, “Message from The Universe”…yeaaaah, riiiigght.

How about this…last night I was INSPIRED.

What is inspired?

According to Wayne Dyer, being inspired is to be “in-spirit.”

According to Marriam-Webster, I have been influenced, moved, or guided by divine or supernatural inspiration.

What was my inspiration?

I was told that I have to write a post every day this week and each post has to inspire and uplift my readers - to help raise their self-esteem, to write something that leads them on the road to a positive change in their lives.

Whoooaa. I’m four-foot-ten-and-three-quarter-inches short. I’m no giant.

Which is exactly the point, right? I have to believe in myself.

I struggle with my fear of failure all the time. Have I failed at something? You betcha! Did that make me a bad person? No.

I am not defined my failures. Neither are you.

What is interesting is that I have also had many successes but my lack of belief in myself can be very sneaky…it might whisper in my ear, “If you can do it…it must be easy. If YOU can do it, anyone can.”

When you don’t believe in yourself, you won’t hear that loving inner voice - you’ll hear the fear-based sneaky voice.

That fear-based sneaky voice? It’s actually outside of you; it’s the fears of others trying to hold onto you to keep them company.

Those fears will turn any of your accomplishments into dust, if they can. If you let them.

What was the last thing you did that you felt good about?

Can’t think of anything? Maybe you have to start fresh.

Take out a sheet of paper.

Write: “Today I will…” and write down something that might take some effort, something you’ve put off but you’ve been meaning to do.

Maybe you will:

  • Stop Smoking for a day
  • Go for a 15-minute walk
  • Clean out and organize that closet
  • Sort through the teetering stack of junk mail
  • Call someone you’ve been meaning to call.

Writing it down makes it a contract with you.

When you keep that contract, you keep a promise to yourself.

When you cross that item off the list, think, WOW, I did what I set out to do. That was TERRIFIC!

I AM TERRIFIC!

Put your list in a jar or in a box. A jar might be better so you can see it. Save the list!

Tomorrow start a new list.

Again, write down something you have wanted to do or get done that may take a little bit of effort but you can do it.

Don’t be hard on yourself. Don’t use this exercise as a way to beat yourself up some more.

Remember, fears are very sneaky!

You want to build up your esteem, you want to see that box, that jar, fill up with your lists of completed tasks - evidence of what you are capable of, evidence of your success.

Some words by famous folk:

“Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t - you’re right.” -Henry Ford

“No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

I love this video and have it bookmarked. It’s Yolanda Adams singing “I Believe I Can Fly”

It gives me a lift every time I watch it.

To tell you how much I like it, I even got the “At Last…The Duets” album by Kenny G which has Yolanda Adams’ version of the song.

Go ahead. Laugh. I like Kenny G! This is also an excellent album and even has Brian McKnight singing “Careless Whisper” which brought me BACK, waaaay back to the old George Michael version.

What will I write about tomorrow?

I have no freakin’ idea.

But something will come to me. It’s on MY list.

I believe in me. I believe in YOU.

Believe in yourself.

Start listening to that loving Inner Voice.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Jill: Yeah, it’s a really sneaky voice, too. Sometimes I have to play that video over and over to keep me inspired - I do get some “bad moments” of doubt and then I visualize myself accomplishing what I need to do. I also meditate to ground myself and shut out the Sneaky Voice so I can hear my Inner Voice.
