You feel the change in season and the nip in the air does feel cold any longer…it feel refreshing, invigorating and like all that dormant beauty under soil and branch, you’re ready to bloom!

So then you look around and think, huh, I need some room to expand here…and out goes the old to prepare for the new.

I finally changed my blog – upgraded the software and even gave it a new theme. I’ve been slowly customizing it to make it my own.

I see that other bloggers have been doing some Spring Cleaning and making changes!

There’s Roy out in Korea who changed his domain. He’s the Master of a few domains and I bow to his UNIX expertise.

There’s HMTKSteve busting a move and a few rakes cleaning up his home, yard and even his blogs!

There’s Rolando who’s been very busy with work but managed to work the soil.

I’ve been throwing out all sorts of papers as I do my own Spring cleaning. As I sort through statements and categorize all this stuff that makes up the infrastructure of my outer life, I wonder why. Why should I do this? Why do I need all this proof that I exist?

I came across this haiku by Mizuta Masahide:

“Barn’s burnt down -
now I can see the moon.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I like to walk in the night.
I like the fog, the echoing footsteps.
I like to walk.
Alone.
In the night.
The shadows foam, the fog alone.
I like to walk in this night, my own, the silence, my own, my heart, my own.
I like to walk in the night.

It’s not quite free but as I walked home tonight the fog lay heavy on the streets. Shadow and light. Was I awake or asleep?

Anyway, I submitted 2 poems to a poetry meme begun by Stretsh from A Few Good Notes and now he’s running a contest.

He’s taken my poems as well as all the other participants in the meme and is asking readers to vote for their favorite poem.

Check them out – evidence that yes! Bloggers are poetic!

Check them out and vote for your favorite.

I’m beginning to think that we all have poems inside ourselves.

We don’t let them out because we’re embarrassed.

We look at poetry as something only a chosen few can do. We believe that unless you’re one of the chosen, our poetry must be bad.

I think we need to give up this attitude and let our poetry spill out of us.

I think many of us want to!

Witness the fact that I tagged myself with Stretsh’s poetry meme just so I had an excuse to include a poem in my blog.

HMTKSteve read my post and has now included a poem on his site and warns us that he’s going to be sharing “more bad poetry” in the coming weeks.

I say, Bring It On!

I say that poetry isn’t for the chosen few, the elite, the blessed.

I say poetry is for all of us.

It’s Just For Me

I wrote a few lines
jumbled words, tried to rhyme
gave that up, is that a crime?

I write what I want to.
Hey, it makes sense to me.
You don’t like it?
So what.
It’s not for you, it’s for me.
I’m not selling it.
You don’t have to buy it.
This is my poetry.
It’s for me, not you.
It’s just for me.

Don’t wait to be tagged by a poetry meme to write a poem.

There is poetry inside you, it needs no excuse.
